Commencing from Sembalun village, this Rinjani trekking package takes you through Sembalun Crater Rim, the summit of Mount Rinjani, the crater lake, the hot spring, the Senaru Crater Rim, and concludes in Senaru village. This comprehensive Rinjani package offers a panoramic exploration of all facets of Mount Rinjani.
Itinerary
On your arrival day in Lombok, we will provide transportation, picking you up from Bangsal port, Senggigi, the airport, or Kuta Lombok. We will then drive you to Senaru village and assist with the hotel check-in.
Day 1: Sembalun Village to Sembalun Crater Rim
Commencing your trekking adventure, Day 1 involves approximately 7 hours of walking, ascending 1700 vertical meters.
- Enjoy breakfast at our office while receiving a briefing from your guide.
- Travel with your guide and porters to Sembalun village in East Lombok, around a 1.25-hour journey.
Trek Start in Sembalun Village:
- Begin your trek in Sembalun village at an elevation of approximately 970m AMSL.
Rest Stops along the Trail:
- Trek for about two hours to Pos.1 “Pemantuan” at 1300m AMSL for a rest and snacks.
- Continue for another hour to Pos.2 “Tengengean” at 1500m AMSL.
- Reach Pos.3 “Pada Balong” for a one-hour lunch break.
Climb to Plawangan Sembalun:
- After lunch, embark on a 3-hour steep trek to Plawangan Sembalun (Sembalun Crater Rim).
- Regular rest and water breaks will be taken as needed.
Arrival at Sembalun Crater Rim:
- Reach Sembalun Crater Rim at an elevation of 2780m.
- Guides and porters set up the campsite and prepare dinner.
- Enjoy refreshments and explore the ridgeline with magnificent views.
- Dress warmly as temperatures drop in the evening.
Evening and Overnight:
- After dinner, choose to rest or stargaze under the night sky.
- Guides and porters will prepare your tent, typically shared with one person of the same sex.
- Opt for a private tent at an additional cost if desired.
Day 2: Sembalun Crater Rim to Summit, Lake, and Senaru Crater Rim
Day 2 is a significant day, offering the option to camp at the lake or continue to Senaru Crater Rim based on the group’s fitness levels and other factors. The preferred route now starts in Sembalun and finishes in Senaru due to damage on the path down from Senaru Crater Rim to the lake caused by the 2018 earthquakes.
Day Overview:
- Duration: Approximately 6-8 hours of walking.
- Vertical Ascent: 950m.
- Descent: 1730m.
- Early Morning Start: Wake up early, typically around 2 / 2.30 am, based on the estimated group pace.
After a hot drink and snack, depart Plawangan Sembalun basecamp for the trek to Gunung Rinjani’s summit.
Challenging Summit Trek:
- The trek to the summit is demanding with a steep gradient and soft ground. Head torch required for the dark ascent.
- Climbing as a group, staying close to the guide, especially in exposed areas.
- Regular short rests, emphasizing continuous movement for warmth and timely arrival at the summit. Summit usually reached in 3-4 hours, aiming for sunrise, depending on fitness levels.
Summit Celebration:
- On the summit, your guide provides a hot drink and snacks. Enjoy sunrise, take in the views, capture memories, and celebrate your achievement.
Descent to Sembalun Crater Rim:
- Descend to Sembalun Crater Rim campsite, usually taking around an hour. Trekking poles recommended for the descent.
- Big breakfast upon returning to Plawangan Sembalun campsite.
Descent to Lake:
- Start the descent to the lake from Plawangan Sembalun. Steep sections require caution, staying close to the guide.
- Descend 780 vertical meters to the lake at 2000m above sea level, taking 2-3 hours.
- Lunch at the lake with the opportunity to bathe in the thermal springs, a short walk away.
Ascent to Senaru Crater Rim:
- After lunch, begin the ascent to Senaru Crater Rim, similar to the route from Sembalun Crater Rim, taking 2-3 hours.
- If the group feels fatigued, camping at the lake is an option, with the climb out on the final day.
- Finishing later on day 3, manageable if no time-sensitive commitments. This day encompasses an exhilarating journey with challenging ascents, rewarding summit views, and diverse landscapes.
Day 3: Senaru Crater Rim to Senaru Village
Day 3 involves approximately 7 hours of walking, with a 950m ascent and 1730m descent if you camped at the lake.
- After breakfast at Lake Segara Anak, embark on the ascent out of the crater to Senaru Crater Rim.
- Despite the short distance, this part includes steep climbing and some scrambling. The lake is at 2004m AMSL, and Senaru Crater Rim is at 2640m AMSL, allowing 2-3 hours for this trek.
Scenic Break at Plawangan Senaru:
- Take a break at Plawangan Senaru, offering a picturesque vantage point for capturing memorable photos.
Descent and Forest Walk:
- Begin the descent from Senaru Crater Rim, with rest and hydration breaks along the way.
- After approximately an hour, enter the forest, providing shade and a cooler environment compared to the hillside.
Duration of Descent:
The duration of the descent from Senaru Crater Rim depends on individual and group fitness levels. On average, it takes around 4-5 hours, featuring steep terrain where walking poles enhance stability.
Arrival in Senaru Village:
- Upon reaching Senaru village, enjoy refreshments before meeting your driver for transportation to your final destination.
Tipping Tradition:
It’s customary to tip the porters and guides, although the decision to do so is at your discretion. This day concludes your trek with a challenging yet rewarding journey through diverse landscapes, from crater rims to lush forests, showcasing the natural beauty of Mount Rinjani.

Includes:
- Pick up and drop off at Bangsal port, Senggigi, Mataram, Lombok airport, or Kuta Lombok.
- One-night accommodation in Senaru village before the trek.
- Experienced trekking guide and porter to carry your food and equipment.
- Food and drinks during the trek, including extra soft drinks and fruits.
- Trekking equipment (tent, sleeping bag, mattress, toilet tent, cooking gear, camping chair, and table).
- Entrance fee to Mt Rinjani National Park (150k/day/person).
- Trekking insurance.
- Additional trekking poles (stick and headlamp).
- Guided visit to the waterfall on the arrival day if you arrive 3 hours before sunset.

Notes:
- We provide sharing packages only if the reservation aligns with another group on the same day and time, with the condition that each member agrees to share.
- For booking confirmation, a 20% deposit of the total price is required, with the remaining amount payable on the arrival day at our office (cash only in IDR).
- The 20% deposit is utilized for booking the entry ticket and accommodation and is non-refundable.
